Get Involved with CO-FAIR
Whether you manage an ecotron facility, study soil ecosystems, engineer data systems, or are simply passionate about open science — we want to hear from you.
Ways to Participate
Facility Partners
Operate an ecotron, phytotron, rhizotron, or similar controlled-environment facility? Join the network and help shape interoperability standards.
Researchers
Soil scientists, ecologists, and domain experts can contribute to ontology development, data standards, and cross-site research initiatives.
Data Engineers
Help build the technical infrastructure — APIs, metadata systems, data pipelines, and visualization tools. All development is open source.
Advisory Board
We are recruiting experts in soil science, data management, and FAIR practices to join our External Advisory Board.
Collaborator Sign-Up
Fill out the form below and a member of the CO-FAIR team will be in touch.
Thank You!
Your interest has been recorded. A member of the CO-FAIR team will reach out soon.
Documentation & Resources
As the project develops, comprehensive documentation will be published here for community use.
FAIR Standards Guide
A practical guide to implementing FAIR principles for ecotron data, including metadata templates and schema documentation.
Coming SoonAPI Documentation
OpenAPI specification and usage guides for the CO-FAIR RESTful APIs, covering data retrieval, metadata harvesting, and more.
Coming SoonEcotron Ontology
The common data dictionary and ontology for ecotron research, built on ENVO using RDF/OWL semantic web technologies.

Coming SoonUpcoming Workshops & Meetings
CO-FAIR hosts annual in-person workshops and quarterly virtual meetings to foster collaborative problem-solving and standard refinement.
Annual Ecotron Network Workshop
2026The inaugural workshop will bring together partners to discuss data standards, present progress, and plan collaborative research. Travel funding available.
Quarterly Virtual Meetings
OngoingRegular virtual meetings to share progress, discuss emerging issues, and refine data-sharing protocols. Open to all network participants.
